Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. You are all so incredible!

This week was pretty fun! My companion and I got to explore some new areas in our setor and we found some new amis which was great! We got to go out to soa on friday and ran into this man who is a neighbor of our branch president. He really wanted to know who we were, and he was also pretty drunk. He wanted to talk more to us, but we were trying to go to our next rendez vous, so we asked for his number so we could plan another time to talk. He tried writing it multiple times in my planner but had no clue what he was doing. He tried telling us that he was a doctor and that is why he couldn’t write well. We gave him a brochure and kept going.

I got to learn something new this week as well. Friday night after our rendez vous we were looking for a chicken to eat the following day. Normally we pay for the chicken and the fee to kill and clean it, but it was getting late, so we just bought the chicken because my companion knows how to do all of the cleaning. We got to walk 15 minutes back to the apartment with a chicken in hand. (Fun part is that you don’t get any weird looks because that is pretty normal here. ) The chicken got to chill in the kitchen while we closed out the day and then my companion showed me how to kill it and clean it. That was pretty interesting. We also found three unlaid eggs inside the chicken. I was ready to throw them away until I learned that we are supposed to eat them. They boiled them up and it tasted like a hard boiled egg. It looked super weird, but now I can cross that off the bucket list.

Saturday we had our open house activity for our branch and that went pretty well. The only thing that made it a little rough was the fact that it started pouring when the activity was supposed to start and that stopped a lot of people from coming. We still had 7 investigators show up which was nice, and they really enjoyed the tour of our church building and the videos that we shared with them. We will see how that goes! The work is moving along and it is so great! I also got to do my first baptismal interview this week. I was a little nervous before hand, but they both went really great! Our district will be having a combined baptismal servce this next Saturday!
