Fufu and Futbol: Missionary life in Yaounde

Bonjour tout le monde!

This week went by so fast, but it was pretty great. My companion and I are finding more and more people to teach each week, and now the branch is helping us more than ever so it has been so great. We were teaching a brother in our branch named Leopaul and a sister julien and right before the lesson the older brother of leopaul left to go get his neighboor and we talked with him for about 5 minutes and set up two appointments for next week. He was super excited and even came back a few minutes later and gave us a sack filled with bread! It was so nice of him and I am super excited to talk to him this week. At church it was funny too because these two kids I have never met before came up to me and asked if they could take an appointment with us missionaries this week. They were super cute and they were the son and daughter of the first counselor in the branch presidency. I am just super happy how the branch is beginning to change and search for missionary work.

This week it was my day to cook and everyone wanted fufu so I decided that is what I would make. I had some help, but fufu is so difficult to make. If you want to destroy your arms, prepare fufu everyday. I started sweating and Elder Idumu was laughing at me, but it turned out delicious so all is well.

Highlight of the week was our big soccer match Missionaries vs the Members. We missionaries found some super awesome jerseys and put our names and numbers on them and everything was less than 9 dollars. We looked pretty sweet, and what was even better was that we won too. 4-2. It was super fun and it was a great activity for our district and for the missionaries as well. There were a lot of amis that came to watch and play with us. If you ever want to create a closeness with your amis soccer is definitely one of the ways to do it.
