Bonjour tout le monde!

So this week there were a lot of changes. In french we call transfers mutations which I think is pretty sweet. We all got to read our mutation letters on Friday and theres some fun changes. Thankfully I get to stay in my sector of ELEVEUR, that didn’t change at all, but I will be receiving a new companion because my trainer will be switching over to the other district of Yaounde to train again. My new companion is Elder Mongo from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and we will be a very young companionship. Now I have been out 4 months and he has been out 4 months and 2 weeks. I am looking forward to the chance we get to figure stuff out together. We also had to say goodbye to Elder West and Elder Okon from our zone. They finished their 2 years and are going home to continue their lives. Elder West was in my apartment and he was so awesome. I got to work with him this Thursday on splits and holy cow he new the answer to every question. We had one lesson with a new ami and his friends who grilled us with questions for about an hour, but Elder West and I answered them all. It was so great to see how much he knows and has learned over the past two years, I hope I will be able to go home with the same knowledge as him.

We also had our baptismal service this week which went really well. I have decided that the favorite part of my mission is hearing our amis bear their testimony after their baptism. Frere Soh Dany is so awesome and he is going to be such an awesome member of the church. He has had a lot of problems in his life and went searching for answers which lead him to many different churches and pastors, but he never really felt at peace. He was someone we met on the road, he saw us talking to another ami and called us over, and we started teaching him right there. He was baptised less than a month later. Huge testimony to me that there are people here waiting for us, waiting to hear the message. Heavenly Father is the one doing the preparing and working, we as missionaries just have to get out and talk. If we do that and we are trying our best to be obedient, the spirit guides us to those who have been prepared, or in the case of frére Dany, those that have been prepared to us. Missionary work is truly God’s work.

Saturday was super interesting because there was a wedding at the church. We missionaries go to weddings to pass out Family Proclamation brochures because for the most part the families of those getting married are not members. This wedding got pretty wild. The other churchs here worship with a lot of yelling, singing, whistling, and dancing and the ceremony in the Chapel turned into that real quick. It was funny to see the district president bring everything back down with the talk he gave. There are two things that cameroonians are really good at doing; singing and dancing. And after the ceremony the whole crowd errupted into both. It was pretty funny and a very different experience for me.

Well that’s it for this week. Have an awesome week!

Love you guys! Elder Scoffield
