MISSIONARY WORK & THANKSGIVING

Bonjour Everyone!
I tried finding a way to describe the week in general, but it is so difficult as a missionary because we really go through all the emotions imaginable each week. It is always so frustrating when we walk all the way across the sector to find out that our amis was not there or was too tired to meet with us. But it also so exciting when we get to find someone who is very curious about our message and has a deep desire to learn more. We had a few of both of those experiences this week and it was frustrating but also made me so happy. This week we taught a lot, I love that I can actually play a larger part in the conversation now. We have an ami named Soeur Eden and she is just so awesome. Every time we give her something to do she does it and she is so intelligent. She is a student at a local university, but I have never met someone yet who is as curious as she is. She asks the broadest questions and really enjoys our lessons. The Plan of Salvation was a very fun topic to discuss with her. We have also had many discussions about her really wanting to serve a mission. It makes me really happy to see the changes in people and once they realize the change they want to go an help change others. All three of the sisters that were baptized the other week want to serve a mission. As the missionary who helped them get to where they are in their lives it makes me so happy. That is exactly the spirit of missionary work. Once you realize how much you have in your life because of the gospel, you have a strong desire to share that with others and bring that happiness into the lives of others. I have definitely seen this in myself as well. I am so grateful for all that I have and the blessings that I have received and because of that it is whole lot easier going up to people and telling them about how their lives can have that same happiness. Missionary work is great. For all the people at home, work with the missionaries in your ward. It is so much better when members and missionaries work together. Don’t let your missionaries do it alone because that way is difficult and is not successful all the time. Everybody can be a missionary, just be an example and people will see that and start to ask questions.
So this week in my apartment we had a war against mice and cockroaches. The mice get into our apartment each night and eat our bread. We have caught and killed 2 so far. (Elder Tweneboah stepped on one with his bare foot). Each night they eat the peanut butter on the mouse traps, but don’t get caught. They seem to only eat our bread so now we hide it in the microwave. We also have a competition in our apartment to see who can kill the most cockroaches. Elder Hall is winning, but he says its only because he is from San Antonio and he has lots of practice. They are a lot bigger here too and they fly, which I guess they can back home but I have never seen that until now. So that has kept us entertained this week.
We also had a GREAT thanksgiving thanks to our incredible senior couple missionaries, the Diamonds. The whole zone (12 hungry missionaries) went over to their apartment and they had more than enough food for all of us. It was great and they are great. And we went home with alot of leftovers. I hope your thanksgivings went well also.
Je vous aime beaucoup!!
