Bonjour Everybody!!
This week was so great. It was a little different than our other weeks which was a pretty cool change. This week my companion and I and the other missionaries in our apartment did alot of service. Friday we cleaned our church building and helped set up for a wedding. That was alot of work but really fun working together. We also got to attend the wedding later that night and that was so cool. The couple was from our district and the ceremony was great. After there was soo much food. It was so awesome. I like basically all of the food here except one dish called indole it is extremely bitter and fishy. I love fish and everything else but that one is still weird for me. They had some dances too for the couple and whoever else wamted to dance. There was this one man named frere paul who could dance really really well it was so funny to watch. sidenote about the food. It is so weird how a mission can change your tastebuds. For anyone who knew me really well they would know I could not eat any form of nuts and i thought bananas were disgusting. Guess what my favorite food is here? bananas and peanuts. They sell them on the street for really cheap and we all eat it. Its prettty funny the peanuts are sold in cleaned out whiskey bottles. I learned alot about service this week. We got to serve some of the soeurs that we just baptised by going to their house with the relief society and cleaning and haning up all their clothes and washing all their dishes. There are 0 washers in my sector so everything is done by hand and it takes a long time by yourself, so they were very apprecitative. Another awesome miracle was that their cousins and uncle who did not want anything to do with the church saw elder Kayembe and I washing and hanging up the clothes he was touched and now he and his family want to learn more about our church because of what they saw. It strengthened my testimony of service alot. It truely changes people, and that is what I am here to do. I only have 2 years to serve as much as possible. Im so excited. The days by themselves are really long but looking back the weeks fly by. Its already thanksgiving this week! I have no clue how that happened. Anyways you are all great! love, Elder Scoffield
