ANOTHER WEEK IN THE JUNGLE

Bonjour tout le monde!!

Another great week here in Cameroon! This week was all sorts of weird weather wise, we would have some very intense lightning and thunderstorms, and then they would dissapear and it would remind me of walking around in arizona during the summer. So very different extremes with the weather. So our apartment is in the nicer part of town but we still have had some fun problems. Our power goes out nearly every morning and then there were 2 mornings where we didn’t have running water. We had enough water storage to get by but it was interesting taking a shower by pouring water out of a soda bottle. Speaking of soda I found an incredible fruit soda here called Djino, it is one of the best things I have ever tasted and it is so cheap, Elder West and I call it our juice. My companion taught me how to cook some affrican dinners so I got to prepare fish and rice and this interesting sauce it was pretty good. We basically have to fry everything we eat so we know its safe, so we go through a lot of oil.

We have 3 “amis” or investigators who are preparing for their baptism next Saturday and they all finished their last few lessons and finished their entreintiens with our district leader so they are all ready to go. The font is outside and Elder Kayembe and I get to clean it this Friday because as of right now it is nasty. And Im also pretty sure they chose me to be the one to baptise them so I am sooo exicted for that.

One thing I learned is to be careful with my nametag around little kids. We had a family home evening last week and a little boy named Helaman took my badge and kept hiding it around the house, it was pretty funny. I finally got it back by distracting him with a magic trick my brother taught me by making a quarter dissapear and while he was distracted another elder grabbed my badge.

Something that I studied a lot this week was the Book of Mormon, and I was able to finish it this week. My testimony of it is strengthened nearly every time I study it. I have also learned so much. As I study it with the intention of learning how I can become a better missionary or how the information will help my amis I learn so much. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I know that it can answer nearly every “question of the soul” that we ask ourselves. I have definitely found this to be true in my life and especially in the lives of my amis as they begin finding aswers for their own lives. It is literally another testamony of Jesus Christ and one can know that the gospel is true by reading it, pondering about it, and then praying about it. It has been such an amazing help for me in my life and my life as a missionary.

Je vous aime beaucoup

Sincerement,
